A Year To Remember...........

Well done with all my exams for this semester.....now free to rest for a bit....before starting to study for my vivas......scheduled on 14^th and 15^th .....Well wanted to write about my third year of engineering life which has by far been the busiest year as my first “real” blog post.

So here it goes!!   Elections.....

Started off with the great college council elections for which people were going crazy around the college convincing and back-stabbing people which was actually fun to watch from the outside. But this time got a chance to actually feel it from the inside even though I was not in the whole picture. Man that was an experience….PHEW!! But somehow the phase passed and elections happened with hardly any difference in the two group votes with the winning council jus winning by two votes….!!

Leaving aside the main college council “work” on its own, it was time to carry on with studies and internals as usual. Though we were busy preparing for our own departmental technical event side by side(later….).The subjects for the third year were also a bit hectic but really more interesting as compared to the first two years. Getting into the real Electronics and Telecommunications field it was fun and I was getting the feeling (finally!!) that  I am heading to what I always wanted to be…….an ENGINEER!!(apart from other childhood career fantasies like scientist, astronaut, truck driver etc..;))!!!

Tandav....... Moving on with some disturbing incidents…… the thundering monsoons still going very strong came the month of October and with that came the college organized Tandav 3.0.Its a inter-branch cultural festival organized by the college every year where the six branches of our college fight (literally) it out to win through many events including cultural, sports and other literary events. Without any surprises we (The Electronics and Telecommunications branch) won the event. Though I played 0% part in the whole process(other than running around doing minor chores like getting people to actually perform and also pushing some on to the stage) it was fun seeing n also fighting during the two day “War”!!

Soon after the events were our internals and also coming towards the end to the semester. Meanwhile our ASSETS (Association of Electronics and Telecommunications Students) members had already starting running behind sponsors for our upcoming technical event……(sound effects)…..TECHNOSANGRAM 2010…;)..to be held in February 2010.We had already started preparing for the various events well in advance as we were going to be unavailable during our post semester exams holidays(for super-exciting reasons..;))!!With the semester ending and everyone going into hiding for the exam preparation, life was back at its boring-best……STUDY TIME!!

Tour...... Done with exams by mid-December we were free birds to fly around and prepare for the next best thing that was going to happen…..The Unforgettable Tour…!! Oh man we were super excited for this day and it happened on January 4^th.We left for a journey that was simply an amazing experience with all friends and having fun 24x7 for about half a month!! We visited places like Delhi, Manali, Shimla, Amritsar, Jaipur and Mumbai (not really :( ).

Techno'10...... Coming back fully refreshed we began with college a week later after it actually began….and now began the preparations for Techno’10 in full swing! This event was was to be a 2day event with loads of events lined up for students all over the country. We received tremendous response from not only colleges in Goa but also outside!! Some great experiences we came across during this event. I remember myself waiting for the T-shirts guy at night somewhere near colva and then carrying those boxes from one car to another in pitch darkness….just like smugglers!!! Cant forget the day we had a “power nap” in the computer lab of our department at about 3am .These are times which I can never forget which happened before and during the making of this grand event!!

Finally the day came and as expected our event turned to be a grand success which was evident when our acting principal announced that….”Technosangram 2010 has been the biggest event that Goa Engineering College has ever seen”….these words were enough to drive away all the tiredness in us and give us the energy for the next…..It was time to celebrate!!!:)

The Clubs......and PhotoFlare'2010...... Apart from all this I also joined two of the newly made clubs in college namely the The Robotics Club and The Photography Club. The robotics club was a fabulous experience to work with lots to learn. Looking forward for more this year. Our photography club organized an international event Photoflare2010 in the month of April which turned out to be grand success. The event was basically a photography contest followed by a two day exhibition topped up with really interesting and enjoyable workshops n talks. Truly have learnt a lot and made new friends through this event. Though I was unable to be a part of it in the initial stages due to various commitments I tried to be a part of the fabulous team during the event. Also there is always a next time…. :) Farewell......

This was followed by a cricket and football match organized by our class for our beloved seniors, followed by a grand farewell party we arranged for them. We really felt that they really deserved such a function as they have always been of great help and support for almost all the things mentioned above. Hope they all do well in life n a very best of luck to all of them!!

As usual the year ended with the usual exams and lots and lots of studies!!! Still not completely done officially!!

Anyways let me not bore you more, the post is already very long…..Though this year was very busy n hectic it was the most memorable year of my studying career. Got a chance to learn millions of things and thats what all students should look for in a college and i guess GEC is the best place to do it all!!. Still lots to learn….including “how to write a better post than this in future”….;)
